Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine
Major Achievements of the Council during 2017-18

 

  • Unani Day celebration and International Conference on Unani Medicine on the theme “Integration of Unani System of Medicine in Mainstream Healthcare”, 10 – 11 February 2018.
  • Memorandum of Understanding signed with Hamdard University, Bangladesh for establishment of Unani chair.
  • Five patents namely SCAR and a kit for the authentication of single drug Tukhm-e-Kasoos (Cuscuta reflexa) and its adulterant     Aftimoon Vilayati (Cuscuta chinensis), SCAR primers and a kit for the authentication of Unani drug Filfil Siyah (Piper nigrum) and its adulterant Carica papaya, SCAR primers and a KIT for the authentication of Unani drug Zarishk (Berberis aristata) and its adulterant Daru Haridra (Cascinium fenestratum), SCAR primers and a kit for the authentication of Unani drug Amla (Emblica officinalis) and its adulterant Shakarkand (Ipomeae batatas) and SCAR primers and a kit for the authentication of Unani drug Senna (Cassia acutifolia & Cassia angustifolia) and its adulterant Carica papaya has been awarded to CCRUM by Indian Patent Office (IPO), New Delhi.
  • CCRUM has filed provisional patents in respect of two drugs – one each for Bronchial Asthma and Hepatitis.
  • National Unani Morbidity Codes (NUMC) for 229 diseases has been published on the line of ICD10.
  • Four collaborative studies with Vallabh bhai Patel Chest Institute, University of Delhi for Hepato-protective and immune-modulatory effects of Dawa-ul-Kurkum. Amity University, Noida for Anticancer Potential of ‘Dawa-ul-Kurkum’. Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi for Pharmacokinetics, stability and Quality Control Studies on Araqiyat. Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi for Different Human Cancer (Sartan) Cell Lines.
  •  Four documents Urdu translation of Muhit-i Azam vol. IV (Persian), Urdu translation of Minhaj al-Dukkan wa-Dustur al-A'yan (Arabaic), Reprint of Intekhab-i Jalil (Urdu) and Reprint of Tajviz-i Jalil (Urdu) were finalized for publications.
  • The Council organized two in-house training programmes, one each on Research methodology and Hijamah (Cupping) institute wise.
  • A total number of 2,23,346 persons have been screened under the project on integration of Unani Medicine in National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular disease and Stroke (NPCDCS).
  •  M.D. course in the discipline of Moalijat (Medicine) and Ilmul Advia (Pharmacology) continued at National Research Institute of Unani Medicine for Skin Disorder (NRIUMSD), Hyderabad and Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar with intake capacity of seven students in each disciplines.
  • Ph.D. programme in Moalijat (Medicine) and Ilmul Advia (Pharmacology) in collaboration with Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi with intake capacity of three seats in each discipline.
  • Approval and initiation of construction of the new building for Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine, Silchar (Assam).
